Project Overview

Construction contract of railway Bridge on Euphrates River between (Hajama & Sawa), awarded to Boland Payeh Co. with Ministry of Transportation – Iraq Republic Railway Co. This project involves massive amount of earthwork, 17 KM of railway construction and construction of 6 bridges including 3 underpasses and 3 main bridges on Euphrates, Al-Suwer and Al-Atshan Rivers, will be a part of the railway which connects Basra to Baghdad.

In order to construct the bridges with the highest quality and efficiency, BP has chosen to use Beam Launcher to place each of the 180 ton girders on the main bridges. More than 250 employees are working to complete this project.

Upon completion, Hajama-Sawa railway project will be part of a fast and reliable transportation system which connects south to north of Iraq. This railway will decrease road traffic and cost of transporting goods and passengers.
